Campath (alemtuzumab) is a recombinant DNA-derived humanized monoclonal antibody (Campath-1H) directed against the 21-28 kD cell surface glycoprotein, CD52. alemtuzumab is an IgG1 kappa antibody with human variable framework and constant regions, and complementarity-determining regions from a murine (rat) monoclonal antibody. The alemtuzumab has an approximate molecular weight of 150 kD. alemtuzumab is produced in mammalian cell (Chinese hamster ovary) suspension culture in a medium containing neomycin. Neomycin is not detectable in the final product.
Alemtuzumab is supplied at a concentration of 30 mg/mL as a sterile, preservative-free, clear, colorless, isotonic solution (pH6.8-7.4), which contains 8.0 mg/mL sodium chloride, 1.44 mg/mL dibasic sodium phosphate, 0.2 mg/mL potassium chloride, 0.2 mg/mL monobasic potassium phosphate, 0.1 mg/mL polysorbate 80, and 0.0187 mg/mL disodium edetate dihydrate. No preservatives are added.
